macOS took too long to attach the drive

Updated October 2, 2026

What it means

macOS took too long to attach the drive. Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps happening, plug the drive in again.

What to try

  1. Wait a moment and choose Try Again.
  2. Plug the drive in again, then choose Refresh Drive List in Unbit.
  3. If it keeps happening, restart the Mac and try once more.

Still stuck?

In Unbit, open the gear menu and choose Copy Error Report, then include it when you ask for help. It contains no passwords, drive names or file paths.
