macOS denied access to the drive

Updated October 2, 2026

What it means

macOS denied access to the drive. Give “Unbit” Full Disk Access in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, and try again.

What to try

  1. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, turn on Unbit, then return to the app.
  2. In Unbit’s gear menu choose Set Up Read Access… and approve once with your Mac password.
  3. If the setting doesn’t seem to apply, quit Unbit and open it again.

Still stuck?

In Unbit, open the gear menu and choose Copy Error Report, then include it when you ask for help. It contains no passwords, drive names or file paths.
